Ingredients

Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)2½ cups
Egg4
Saltpinch
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for frying (amount absorbed)
Honey⅔ cup
Sugar⅓ cup

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Mix flour, eggs and salt into a firm dough. Cover and rest 20 minutes.
  2. 2Roll 3 mm thin, cut into thin strips and then into pea sized pieces.
  3. 3Fry in batches in hot oil until pale gold, then drain.
  4. 4Boil honey and sugar together until a drop in cold water forms a soft ball.
  5. 5Pour the hot syrup over the fried pieces, toss and shape into a mound with wet hands. Leave to set.
Serve it like this

Shape into a mound on a plate and break into pieces at the table.
