Ingredients

10 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)3¼ cups
Sugar6 tbsp
Butter4 tbsp
Egg1
Milk½ cup
Whole spices½ tsp grated nutmeg
Baking powder1 tsp
Salta pinch
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for deep frying (about 5 tbsp absorbed)

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Mix flour, sugar, nutmeg, baking powder and salt. Rub in butter until like breadcrumbs.
  2. 2Add egg and milk and knead to a firm, smooth dough. Rest 10 minutes.
  3. 3Roll out 1/4 inch thick and cut into small cubes or strips.
  4. 4Fry in batches in medium hot oil, stirring, until golden. Drain and cool fully.
Serve it like this

Pour into a glass jar or bowl; serve with chilled zobo or tea. Keeps crisp in an airtight jar for weeks.
