Ingredients

6 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)2½ cups
Baking powder2 tsp
Salt¾ tsp
Waterabout 3/4 cup, warm
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for frying

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Mix flour, baking powder and salt, then add warm water gradually to make a soft dough. Knead briefly and rest 15 minutes, covered.
  2. 2Divide into 6 balls and pat or stretch each into a 15 cm round, thinner in the middle. Poke a small hole in the centre.
  3. 3Fry one at a time in 2 cm of oil at 180°C for about 1 minute a side.
  4. 4Drain and serve warm with honey, or top as Navajo tacos.
Serve it like this

Serve warm on a plate with honey or powdered sugar, or pile beans, lettuce, tomato and cheese on top for a Navajo taco.
