Ingredients

4 servings
Beef700 g stewing beef, small cubes
Onion3 large, finely chopped
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tbsp
Niter kibbeh (spiced clarified butter)2 tbsp
Berbere spice blend3 tbsp
Garlic5 cloves, minced
Ginger2.5 cm, minced
Tomato puree¼ cup
Water2½ cups
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Cook the onions dry on low until deep brown.
  2. 2Add oil, niter kibbeh and berbere and fry on low.
  3. 3Add garlic, ginger and tomato puree, then the beef. Turn to coat.
  4. 4Add the water, cover and simmer until tender.
Serve it like this
