Ingredients

4 servings
Potato3 medium, cubed
Green peas1½ cups, fresh or frozen
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tbsp
Cumin seeds1 tsp
Onion1 large, finely chopped
Ginger garlic paste1 tbsp
Green chilli1 or 2, slit
Tomato2 large, pureed
Turmeric (ground turmeric)½ tsp
Red chilli powder (indian red chili powder)1 tsp
Coriander powder (ground coriander)2 tsp
Garam masala1 tsp
Water1⅔ cups
Saltto taste
Coriander leaves (cilantro)a handful, chopped

Method

4 steps
  1. 1In the pressure cooker, crackle the cumin in hot oil, then fry the onion until golden. Add the ginger garlic paste and green chilli.
  2. 2Add the tomato puree and powdered spices except garam masala and cook until the oil separates.
  3. 3Add the potatoes, peas, salt and water. Pressure cook for 2 whistles, then let the pressure release naturally.
  4. 4Mash a few potato pieces into the gravy, stir in garam masala and coriander and simmer for a minute.
Serve it like this

Serve hot in a bowl with phulkas, puri or jeera rice, a spoon of curd and a slice of onion on the side.
