Ingredients

4 servings
Chana dal (split chickpeas)1 cup, soaked 4 hours
Onion1 small, chopped
Green chilli2
Ginger2.5 cm
Coriander leaves (cilantro)a handful
Cumin seeds½ tsp
Ajwain (carom seeds)¼ tsp
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tsp, for tempering
Mustard seeds½ tsp
Saltto taste

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Grind soaked chana dal coarsely with chilli and ginger, no water.
  2. 2Mix in onion, coriander, cumin, ajwain and salt.
  3. 3Shape small dumplings and steam for 15 minutes.
  4. 4Optionally temper with mustard in a little oil and toss.
Serve it like this
