Ingredients

4 servings
Beef400 g steak, thin strips
Ginger garlic paste2 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder1½ tsp
Garam masala1 tsp
Salt1 tsp
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)20 g for steak, 60 g absorbed from chips
Potato4, cut into thick chips
Vinegarfor the chips
Baguette (french bread roll)1 long soft loaf
Lettuceshredded
Tomatosliced
Tomato ketchup (ketchup)3 tbsp
Red chilli sauceperi peri or hot sauce

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Toss beef with ginger garlic, chilli, garam masala and salt. Rest 15 minutes.
  2. 2Fry chips at 150 C until soft, then sprinkle with vinegar and salt. These are slap chips, soft and tangy.
  3. 3Sear the steak in hot oil for 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. 4Split the loaf, layer lettuce, tomato, chips and steak, drizzle ketchup and peri peri, close and cut into 4.
Serve it like this

Cut the loaf into four wedges, wrap in paper and serve with extra peri peri sauce and cold drinks.
