Ingredients

8 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)3¾ cups
Instant dry yeast2 tsp
Sugar¼ cup
Salt1¼ tsp
Milk1 cup, warm
Egg1
Butter3 tbsp
Breadcrumbs⅓ cup, fine

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Knead flour, yeast, sugar, salt, milk and egg for 8 minutes, then knead in butter. Rise 1 hour.
  2. 2Roll the dough into a long log, coat it in breadcrumbs and cut into 16 pieces.
  3. 3Place cut side up on a tray, rise 45 minutes.
  4. 4Bake at 180 C for 15 to 18 minutes.
Serve it like this

Serve warm in a basket with butter, cheese or jam, alongside coffee or hot chocolate.
