Afghan biscuits.

Ingredients

12 servings
Butter¾ cup plus 2 tbsp, soft
Sugar⅓ cup for biscuits, 1 cup icing sugar
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)1½ cups
Cocoa powder (unsweetened cocoa powder)3 tbsp plus 1 tbsp for icing
Cornflakes2 cups
Walnuts12 halves
Waterabout 1 1/2 tbsp, for icing

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Beat butter and 1/3 cup sugar until pale and creamy.
  2. 2Sift in flour and 3 tbsp cocoa and mix, then fold in the cornflakes gently.
  3. 3Press spoonfuls onto lined trays and bake at 180°C for 15 minutes. Cool.
  4. 4Mix icing sugar, remaining cocoa and water into a thick icing. Spread on each biscuit and top with a walnut half.
Serve it like this

Pile on a plate or store in a tin, iced tops up. Serve with tea.
