Pasta350 g penne or rigatoni

Cooking oil (vegetable oil)2 tsp

Onion1 onion, finely chopped

Carrot1 carrot, grated

Garlic2 cloves

Minced beef (beef mince, beef or buff keema)400 g beef mince

Tomato puree500 g passata

Dried oregano½ tsp

Saltto taste

Cheddar cheese1¼ cups grated

Mozzarella¾ cup grated

Method

5 steps

1Soften the onion, carrot and garlic in the oil.
2Add the mince and cook, breaking it up, until no pink remains.
3Add the passata, oregano and salt and simmer.
4Meanwhile cook the pasta 2 minutes short of the packet time, drain and stir into the sauce with half the cheddar.
5Tip into a dish, top with the remaining cheeses and bake at 200C.
