Ingredients

8 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)2½ cups
Instant dry yeast1½ tsp
Sugar2 tbsp in dough, rest for coating
Salt½ tsp
Milk⅔ cup, warm
Egg1
Butter1½ tbsp, soft
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for frying, about 90 g absorbed
Cinnamon powder1 tsp

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Mix flour, yeast, 2 tbsp sugar, salt, milk and egg; knead in butter until smooth.
  2. 2Rise 1 hour until doubled.
  3. 3Roll pieces into 30 cm ropes, fold in half and twist, pinching the ends. Rest 20 minutes.
  4. 4Fry at 170 C for 2 minutes a side.
  5. 5Roll warm doughnuts in sugar mixed with cinnamon.
Serve it like this

Pile the warm twists on a plate with extra cinnamon sugar and serve with milk or barley tea.
