Minced beef (beef mince, beef or buff keema)400 g beef or mutton mince

Breadcrumbs½ cup

Egg1

Parmesan⅓ cup, grated

Garlic3 cloves, minced

Onion1 small, grated

Dried oregano1 tsp

Salt1 tsp

Black pepper½ tsp

Olive oil1½ tbsp

Tomato puree1⅔ cups

Sugar1 tsp

Basil leavesa few leaves

Baguette (french bread roll)4 sub rolls

Mozzarella150 g, sliced

Method

4 steps

1Mix mince, breadcrumbs, egg, parmesan, half the garlic, onion, oregano, salt and pepper. Roll 16 balls.
2Brown meatballs in oil on all sides.
3Add remaining garlic, tomato puree, sugar and basil. Simmer covered 20 minutes until cooked through.
4Fill toasted rolls with meatballs and sauce, top with mozzarella and grill 3 to 4 minutes.

Serve it like this
