Ingredients

6 servings
Sabudana (tapioca pearls)⅓ cup small tapioca pearls
Agar agar1 tsp powder or 1 bar gulaman
Brown sugar⅔ cup
Water1.2 litres in total
Vanilla essence (vanilla flavouring, imitation vanilla extract)½ tsp, or a pandan leaf
Ice cubescrushed

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Boil the agar in 300 ml water with 1 tbsp sugar until dissolved, pour into a tray and let it set.
  2. 2Boil the sago in plenty of water until clear, then rinse in cold water.
  3. 3Melt the brown sugar in 200 ml water to a dark syrup and add vanilla.
  4. 4Cut the jelly into cubes. In each glass, add syrup, sago, jelly, ice and cold water to top up.
Serve it like this

Serve in tall glasses with a wide straw so the pearls and jelly come up, crushed ice on top.
