Ingredients

Rava (semolina)1 cup
Tomato3 large, chopped
Onion1 medium, chopped
Green chilli2, slit
Ginger1.5 cm, chopped
Green peas⅓ cup
Red chilli powder (indian red chili powder)1 tsp
Garam masala1 tsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Cashews10
Ghee2 tbsp
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)1 tbsp
Mustard seeds1 tsp
Chana dal (split chickpeas)2 tsp
Urad dal (split black gram)1 tsp
Curry leaves1 sprig
Coriander leaves (cilantro)a handful
Water2 cups
Sugar1 tsp
Saltto taste

Method

5 steps
  1. 1Dry roast the rava till fragrant and set aside.
  2. 2Heat oil and half the ghee. Splutter mustard, fry dals, cashews, curry leaves, chilli and ginger, then onion.
  3. 3Add tomatoes, peas, turmeric, chilli powder, garam masala, sugar and salt. Cook till the tomatoes break down.
  4. 4Pour in the water, bring to a boil, then add rava in a thin stream, stirring.
  5. 5Cover and cook on low, then stir in the remaining ghee and coriander.
Serve it like this

Serve hot on a plate, with a few fresh coriander leaves on top.
