Maize flour (fine yellow cornmeal)1 cup fine cornmeal
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)1 cup
Sugar1 cup
Egg3
Milk1 cup
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)½ cup
Baking powder1 tbsp
Fennel seeds1 tsp, as erva doce
Salta pinch

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Heat the oven to 180 C and grease a 22 cm ring or round tin.
  2. 2Blend eggs, sugar, milk and oil until frothy.
  3. 3Whisk in cornmeal, flour, salt and fennel, then fold in the baking powder.
  4. 4Bake 35 to 40 minutes until golden and a skewer comes out clean.
Serve it like this
