Ingredients

8 servings
Maida (all-purpose flour, plain flour)4 cups
Instant dry yeast2 tsp
Sugar1 tbsp
Salt1½ tsp
Milk powder (powdered milk)2 tbsp
Water¾ cup plus, warm
Milk⅓ cup, warm
Butter3 tbsp, plus extra to brush

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Mix flour, yeast, sugar, salt and milk powder. Add water and milk and knead 10 minutes, then work in the butter.
  2. 2Rise covered 1 hour until doubled.
  3. 3Divide into 16 balls and pack them touching in a greased tray. Rise 45 minutes.
  4. 4Brush with milk and bake at 200 C for 18 to 20 minutes. Brush with butter as soon as they come out.
Serve it like this

Tear apart warm, slit and toast on a tawa with butter. Serve with pav bhaji, misal or vada.
