Ingredients

6 servings
Baguette (french bread roll)1 day old loaf, in 2 cm slices
Milk2 cups
Sugar⅓ cup in milk, 1/4 cup for coating
Cinnamon powder1½ tsp plus a stick
Lemonpeel of 1
Egg3, beaten
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)for frying, about 100 g absorbed

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Heat milk with half the sugar, lemon peel and cinnamon stick. Cool to warm.
  2. 2Soak bread slices in the milk until saturated but whole.
  3. 3Dip in egg and fry until golden.
  4. 4Drain and coat in cinnamon sugar.
Serve it like this

Stack on a plate dusted with cinnamon sugar, served warm or cold with a drizzle of honey.
