Minced mutton (goat mince, ground goat)600 g lamb or beef mince
Onion2, chopped
Garlic3 cloves
Curry powder1 tbsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)½ tsp
White bread1 thick slice
Milk1 cup
Sweet fruit chutney3 tbsp
Raisins2 tbsp
Almonds2 tbsp, flaked
Lemon juice1 tbsp
Egg2
Bay leaf (indian bay leaf)4
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)1½ tbsp

- 1Soak the bread in half the milk. Fry onion and garlic in oil until soft, then add curry powder and turmeric.
- 2Add the mince and brown. Squeeze the bread, mash in, add chutney, raisins, almonds, lemon and salt.
- 3Press into a baking dish. Beat the eggs with the rest of the milk and the bread milk, pour over and tuck in bay leaves.
- 4Bake at 180 C until the topping is set and golden.
Serve it like thisCut into squares and serve warm with yellow rice, a spoon of chutney and sliced banana or sambal on the side.
