Ingredients

Fish600 g firm fish, thick slices
Potato3 medium, sliced
Onion2 large, sliced into rings
Tomato3 medium, sliced
Capsicum (green capsicum, green bell pepper)1, sliced
Garlic5 cloves, sliced
Green chilli2, slit
Black pepper½ tsp
Turmeric (ground turmeric)¼ tsp
Vinegar1½ tbsp
Cooking oil (vegetable oil)3 tbsp
Saltto taste
Water¾ cup

Method

4 steps
  1. 1Rub fish with salt, pepper and turmeric.
  2. 2In a wide pan, layer oil, onion, potatoes, tomatoes, capsicum, garlic and chillies, then the fish, then more vegetables on top.
  3. 3Add vinegar, water and salt. Cover and cook on low 25 to 30 minutes without stirring.
  4. 4Rest 5 minutes and serve with pao.
Serve it like this

Serve hot in a deep bowl with a swirl of ghee or a few coriander leaves on top, and rice or rotis on the side.
